La Fiesta de Gracia
La Fiesta de Gracia takes place in the Gracia district of Barcelona each year for a week during August.

This week-long celebration is one of the most anticipated events on the city's cultural calendar, attracting both locals and tourists from around the world.
La Fiesta de Gracia has its roots in the early 19th century, when the neighbourhood was known as an independent town outside the city of Barcelona. Back then, it was primarily a farming community with a tight-knit population. Initially, the festival began as a religious celebration dedicated to the patron saint of the area, San Roque.

Over time, the festival evolved, incorporating elements of Catalan culture, traditions and a strong sense of community. Today, it shows the artistic and creative spirit of the Gracia neighbourhood.
La Fiesta de Gracia offers endless activities and entertainment for all ages. Throughout the week, you can enjoy concerts, live music performances, theatre shows, dance exhibitions and traditional dances such as the Sardana. Street performers also entertain the crowd, showcasing their talents and adding to the festive atmosphere.
The most prominent part of the event is the decorated streets. Each street is assigned a theme and then decorate the street according to that theme. The best street gets awarded a prize; so it’s important that they work hard and use their imagination!
